Farm to Table

We had a wonderful visit from the Cook County Farm Bureau, where we learned information about agriculture in Illinois.

Think of all the interesting facts we learned:

Illinois' number one product is CORN.

Illinois grows more PUMPKINS than anywhere else in the world.

Scientists and Food Engineers use crops to make crayons, ink and even baby diapers!

Click on the link below to visit an interactive farm where you will be reporting facts about agriculture!

Letters Home From Yosemite

Good Morning 4th Graders!

For the next two weeks, we will be reading a non-fiction story about Yosemite National Park.  Have you ever heard of that national park?  It's protected land located in the mountains of California.  This land is protected so that no one can build on it or destroy the nature that is there.

You may watch the video below that lets you "visit" Yosemite National Park.

After you watch the video, you can practice your spelling words at Spelling City.  Be sure to choose the right list for you!

The Horned Toad Prince

Good morning, 4th graders!

Have you ever heard of a fairy tale?  A fairy tale is a story that usually includes some kind of fantasy or magic, as well as a moral or lesson.

Have you ever heard of a fractured fairy tale?  A fractured fairy tell is a version of a well-known fairy tale that changes something about it, like the setting or some of the character traits.

For the next couple of weeks, we will be reading a fractured fairy tale of a famous story you may recognize.  You may watch a video below of another fractured fairy tale.

After you have watched the video, you may practice your new spelling words on Spelling City.  Remember to choose the right list for you!
