What Jo Did

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

For the next few weeks, we will reading a story about a young girl who loves sports.  Some people think that girls should not play sports, but Jo shows us just how important it is to always be ourselves.

Watch the short video below about another young girl, Mo'ne Davis, who is a phenomenal athlete. She inspires other young girls to be athletes, too.

After the video, you may practice your new spelling list on Spelling City! Be sure to practice a lot -- the words this week are a little bit tricky!

Remembering September 11

Hello 4th graders...

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks that took place in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.

We plan to acknowledge and discuss these tragic events in class during the week.  There is a slideshow of photos and interactive activities that we will be exploring more together.

May we never forget this horrific tragedy, and may we always remember to honor the first responders from September 11th and in our communities today.

Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of Slippery Salamander

Hi 4th Graders!

For the next two weeks, we are reading one of my all-time favorite stories: Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Slippery Salamander.  Do you know about Encyclopedia Brown books?  They are a series of books written by Donald J. Sobol. Each book is a mystery and it's really fun to try and solve them as you read.

Practice your spelling words and get ready to solve the case of the slippery salamander!
