Paper Bag Book Reports

Good morning, 4th graders!

For the rest of the school year, our reading project will be "Paper Bag Book Reports." You have (hopefully) chosen a story to read and you and your group members will be creating a book report project to present to our class.

You can watch an example of a Paper Bag Book Report on the video below.

After you watch the video, visit Spelling City to practice your spelling words.  Choose the list that matches the story you will be reading for the book report.

The Lost City

Have you ever heard of Macchu Picchu?  That's pronounced like "MA-CHU PI-CHU".  This is a very special place located in Peru, a country in South America.  Macchu Picchu is considered to be a "lost city." It has an amazing history, and then one day, it was just gone!

Watch the video below to learn a little more about Macchu Picchu.  After the video, visit Spelling City to practice your words for this week.  Remember to choose the list that's right for you!

Stormchasing

Last week, you met Warren Faidley, professional storm-chaser.  Not only does he chase storms for a living, but he takes amazing photographs of the storms as they are happening.  He is also the author and photographer who put together our next story, Eye of the Storm.

You may watch a short slideshow of Warren Faidley's storm photography.

After the slideshow, please visit Spelling City to practice your new spelling words.

What Jo Did

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

For the next few weeks, we will reading a story about a young girl who loves sports.  Some people think that girls should not play sports, but Jo shows us just how important it is to always be ourselves.

Watch the short video below about another young girl, Mo'ne Davis, who is a phenomenal athlete. She inspires other young girls to be athletes, too.

After the video, you may practice your new spelling list on Spelling City! Be sure to practice a lot -- the words this week are a little bit tricky!
